The unrest intensified after reports suggested that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally raised objections on 14 separate occasions regarding voter registration and technology systems. While these internal disagreements surfaced in public discourse, the Election Commission dismissed claims of institutional dissent, characterizing the interactions as standard administrative feedback during the draft stage. The Commission maintains that all final decisions regarding the revision schedule were unanimous.
Delhi Police responded to the mounting pressure by imposing prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Authorities have already filed three FIRs at the Parliament Street and Connaught Place stations following the October 2 demonstrations. Despite these measures, groups including the All India Students' Association, the Students' Federation of India, and the Aam Aadmi Party continued their push for accountability. Prominent figures, including senior advocates Prashant Bhushan and Kapil Sibal, joined the students at Jantar Mantar, where police detained several participants, including AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj.
