Murali Krishna claims the former government sanctioned over 2.28 million houses, successfully completing nine lakh units and establishing 17,005 residential colonies. He alleged that the current leadership has prioritized legal obstruction over completion, pointing to over 1,000 court cases filed by the TDP to stall the distribution of house-site pattas. In one instance, he noted that the government challenged and ultimately cancelled land allocations for 50,000 families in Amaravati.
Beyond housing, the YSRCP leader challenged the state government’s performance on agricultural policy and drought management. With 388 of the state’s 688 mandals officially declared drought-affected—including the Chief Minister’s own constituency of Kuppam—Murali Krishna questioned the lack of focus on this crisis during recent high-level meetings with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He also demanded transparency regarding minimum support prices for key crops like paddy and cotton, while inviting an investigation into alleged housing irregularities, provided the probe also covers controversial rice distribution issues in Kakinada. Regarding upcoming local body elections, the party is calling for a thorough audit of voter rolls to remove deceased individuals and bogus entries before polls proceed.
