The party leadership, represented by President Lurinjyoti Gogoi and General Secretary Jagadish Bhuyan, issued a joint statement demanding the immediate release of those held. They characterized the detention as an infringement on constitutional rights, arguing that democratic participation relies on the ability of citizens to challenge administrative omissions without fear of state intimidation. According to the leadership, the government should prioritize dialogue over coercive measures when addressing grievances regarding the transparency of electoral procedures.
Beyond the immediate call for release, the party emphasized that large-scale revisions to voter rolls require rigorous public information standards and accessible grievance mechanisms. By silencing individuals who raise questions about electoral integrity, the administration risks eroding public confidence in the voting process. The party reaffirmed its commitment to protecting dissent, insisting that young citizens and activists must be heard rather than suppressed when advocating for institutional accountability.
