Narayanaswamy attacks Congress government over Form-7 and drought aid

“Yesterday they said they staged a dharna, today they say they did not; is this not shameful?” Opposition leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy questioned the Chief Minister’s sudden reversal on protest tactics, framing the government’s shift as a broader pattern of dishonesty regarding administrative policy and voter integrity.

Narayanaswamy attacks Congress government over Form-7 and drought aid

Narayanaswamy challenged the current administration after meeting with the Director General of Police on Nrupatunga Road. He specifically targeted the government’s handling of Form-7 applications, arguing that the threat of BNS-related legal action effectively suppresses legitimate voter scrutiny. He alleged that the ruling party is actively facilitating the inclusion of non-resident voters to bolster their support base, a move he vowed the Bharatiya Janata Party would neither accept nor assist.

The critique extended beyond electoral politics to the government’s fiscal response to the ongoing agricultural crisis. While the state announced a compensation of 2,500 rupees for affected farmers, Narayanaswamy noted that no funds have reached the fields in over 200 drought-stricken constituencies. He demanded a payment of 25,000 rupees per acre, citing the precedent set by the Yediyurappa administration, and accused the Congress government of betraying the farming community to mask its own administrative failures.
