Adhikari targets Mamata over 2021 Nandigram injury claims

West Bengal opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has vowed to launch a fresh inquiry into the 2021 Nandigram election incident, dismissing Mamata Banerjee’s account of a leg injury as deliberate political theater. He cited medical records from the Bangur Institute of Neurosciences that reportedly showed no evidence of a fracture.

Adhikari told supporters that the CID is currently reviewing the matter, with further investigation details expected to follow after the 9th. The accusation marks a renewed focus on the controversy surrounding the former Chief Minister’s campaign injury, which became a defining narrative point during the 2021 state elections.

Beyond the political probe, Adhikari addressed upcoming holiday logistics, noting that the state will offer sugar, maida, and sooji at a 50 per cent subsidy for Durga Puja. This ration initiative is expected to cost Rs 150 crore and reach two crore families. He also highlighted the Seba Setu Abhiyan, a program running from October 2 to October 4 in his Bhabanipur constituency, designed to consolidate public welfare services and social security applications under a single administrative umbrella.
