Addressing reporters at Chennai Airport before departing for Thoothukudi, Vanniyarasu rejected the notion that party president C. Joseph Vijay’s rigorous outreach efforts stem from a fear of defeat. He characterized the current schedule as a practical adjustment to the scope of the election. Unlike a general election that demands coverage of 234 constituencies, the limited scale of a by-election allows for focused engagement. According to the minister, this intensity is a standard political practice, mirroring historical campaign patterns observed by the DMK and AIADMK.
The confidence follows a high-profile roadshow led by Vijay in Maduranthakam to support candidate Maragatham Kumaravel. The route, spanning from Mamandoor to Achirupakkam, drew crowds amid heightened security during the final phase of canvassing. While Vanniyarasu remains bullish on TVK’s prospects, the political landscape remains contentious. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has recently challenged the TVK on its stance regarding the state's two-language policy, signaling that the broader ideological battle over Tamil and English continues to loom over the local contest.
