Patwari highlighted a grim catalogue of tragedies, citing the deaths of 36 children in Balaghat and over 100 others attributed to malnutrition and systemic corruption. He further pointed to 26 fatalities linked to contaminated cough syrup and 36 deaths caused by poisonous water. According to the Congress leader, the proliferation of illicit liquor has devastated local communities, leaving nearly 100 families displaced, 100 women widowed, and 200 children orphaned. He urged the Home Minister to conduct a rigorous assessment of the state Home Department’s performance during his visit.
