BJP Urges Digital Offensive to Counter Opposition Narratives in UP

Addressing a social media workshop in Varanasi, BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde tasked party workers with countering opposition claims through fact-based digital engagement. Tawde emphasized that the party must move beyond passive presence, actively shaping the public narrative by highlighting development work in Kashi and India’s post-2014 transformation.

Tawde instructed cadres to bridge the information gap for voters born after 2000, who have no direct experience of pre-2014 governance. By contrasting previous administrations with current progress, workers are expected to anchor their digital outreach in the tangible results of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service tenure. The strategy centers on a framework of content, creativity, and continuity, specifically targeting platforms like Facebook and Instagram to amplify local success stories.

Data provided during the session underscored the scale of this push: in Kashi, 536 out of 727 infrastructure projects—valued at over Rs 61,000 crore—have reached completion, with another 191 currently underway. According to district administration records from June 2026, these figures represent the core material for the party’s digital storytelling. National Social Media Department member Harsh Chaturvedi and Central Social Media Officer Vikas Pandey led the technical briefings, focusing on optimizing digital engagement to ensure government schemes reach a wider audience.
