The Mega Swachhata Abhiyan saw participants engage in collective shramdaan alongside public representatives, including Chhattisgarh Minister OP Choudhary and Uttar Pradesh Ministers Rajni Tiwari and Suresh Kumar Khanna. The initiative spanned 8 routes in Madhya Pradesh, 5 in Rajasthan, 2 in Chhattisgarh, and 5 in Uttar Pradesh, signaling a shift from policy-led sanitation to community-driven maintenance.
BJYM National President Hemang Joshi framed the effort as an extension of the 2014 movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that service to the public is incomplete without maintaining the shared environment. By integrating these cleanliness drives into the Yatra’s broader mission, the organizers are attempting to embed social responsibility into the travel routes themselves. The effort underscores a strategy of active contribution, where participants seek to leave a tangible impact on the communities they traverse rather than acting as mere observers.
