In Mumbai, heavy police presence marked the gathering at Shivaji Park, where CJP spokesperson Saurav Das called for nationwide support to oust Kumar. The mobilization faced pushback from local residents, who cited repeated disruptions to public life. Sunil Bhagwat and other neighbors highlighted the proximity of schools and a hospital to the protest site, noting that previous demonstrations resulted in traffic gridlock and unruly behavior near Dadar station. Residents questioned the legality of the assembly, emphasizing the daily inconvenience caused to those who rely on the park for recreation.
Simultaneously, Delhi witnessed a similar confrontation near Jantar Mantar. Despite the police invoking Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to prohibit unauthorized gatherings, members of the Students' Federation of India and the Democratic Youth Federation of India convened under the banner of CPI(M). General Secretary MA Baby accused the CEC of criminal negligence regarding voter roll management, asserting that the commission has abandoned established regulatory standards. With the INDIA bloc planning a large-scale march on October 6, the campaign against the Election Commission appears set to intensify in the coming days.
