Sachin Pilot labels BJP anti-drug campaign in Punjab a failure

The AICC in-charge for Punjab argued that the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence have failed to prevent smuggling, rendering their promises to secure the state hollow. According to Pilot, the proliferation of drugs across towns and villages points to a deeper collusion between the political machinery, police, and local administration. He further challenged the AAP government, asserting that after nearly five years in power, the administration has failed to deliver on its initial promise to eliminate the drug trade within three months.

While Home Minister Amit Shah declared the fight against "chitta" a central campaign pillar for the upcoming Assembly elections—promising a drug-free Punjab by December 31, 2029—Pilot dismissed these claims as misleading. During a press engagement, the Congress leader also addressed broader national concerns, criticizing the electoral roll management and the alleged cancellation of 13 crore votes, noting that these issues extend beyond party lines and threaten the integrity of the democratic process.
