INDIA Bloc Targets Election Commission Over Integrity Concerns

TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee sharpened the critique, noting that recent internal remarks from Election Commissioners now mirror the long-standing grievances of opposition parties. He specifically highlighted West Bengal as a focal point for electoral irregularities. Echoing the demand for structural reform, Congress MP Kapil Sibal insisted that accountability must be enforced, asserting that officials responsible for the current state of affairs should face resignation.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge framed the coalition’s path forward, emphasizing a unified front against what he described as the erosion of democratic institutions. To turn this rhetoric into action, the bloc has scheduled a 'Save Democracy March' at the district level between October 2 and October 8. Plans are also finalized for opposition MPs to confront the Election Commission directly on October 6, followed by a formal delegation meeting with the President later that month. NCP-SP leader PC Chacko confirmed that the meeting yielded total internal unanimity, signaling a shift toward coordinated agitation rather than disparate protests.
