INDIA bloc readies nationwide protests as BJP dismisses alliance

Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarogi dismissed the opposition's coordination meeting in New Delhi as a predictable reaction to impending electoral losses. He claimed the alliance is a collection of competing interests, citing the absence of key figures like Akhilesh Yadav and representatives from the DMK as evidence of internal instability. Sarogi further accused the Congress of undermining constitutional institutions whenever election outcomes fail to align with their political preferences, specifically criticizing their recent attacks on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Despite these criticisms, the opposition has mapped out a multi-phase escalation. Beginning October 2, the alliance will launch a week-long "Save Democracy" protest outside District Magistrate offices nationwide. This push will transition to the capital by October 6, when MPs plan a march to the Election Commission to register formal grievances. The campaign is scheduled to culminate in a series of five regional rallies, ending with a final demonstration in New Delhi on November 1. With five states heading to the polls in 2027, the opposition is aiming to leverage these events to frame the government’s actions as an erosion of democratic norms.
