Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla asserted that the opposition remains unified in its push against the Election Commission’s current handling of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The coalition demands the immediate restoration of genuine voters and a total reset of the electoral roll revision, citing concerns over the exclusion of eligible citizens.

Opposition leaders have outlined a rigorous calendar of dissent to pressure the commission. Following a coordination meeting in New Delhi, the coalition announced a week-long mobilization across every district beginning on Gandhi Jayanti. The protest schedule includes a formal march by members of parliament to the Election Commission on October 6 and a large-scale public rally at Ramlila Maidan scheduled for November 1.

CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya confirmed that the movement will extend beyond local demonstrations, with plans to seek an audience with the President to submit a formal memorandum. CPI MP P Sandosh emphasized that these actions represent the beginning of a continuous agitation aimed at protecting democratic institutions from perceived interference.
