Congress Mobilizes Against Election Commission Over Alleged Haryana Fraud

Congress MP Deepender Hooda spearheaded the call for a fresh election, characterizing the Haryana results as a subversion of public will. He pointed to the narrow 14,000-vote margin in a state of three crore people as evidence of systemic irregularities. According to party leaders, the Election Commission acted as an extension of the ruling party, prompting a strategic shift toward public agitation to challenge the commission’s integrity.

K. Sudhakaran and Meira Kumar echoed these sentiments, framing the upcoming protests as a defense of democratic rights. The political temperature rose further following reports that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had previously documented objections regarding the SIR exercise. While Congress insists these internal notes signal institutional failure, the Election Commission maintains that all decisions reached during the period were processed with unanimous approval, flatly rejecting the narrative of internal dissent.
