Suvendu Adhikari Accuses Mamata Banerjee of Aligning with Extremists

Adhikari asserted that the INDIA opposition bloc effectively ceased to exist, suggesting Banerjee’s presence in the capital serves to rally anti-national forces. He accused the Chief Minister of orchestrating a narrative against the judiciary regarding the recent Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal. According to Adhikari, the removal of 27 lakh entries from the voter list was a judicial mandate, not an administrative act.

He emphasized that the Supreme Court, invoking Article 142, bypassed Electoral Registration Officers to empower District Judges with the authority to purge these entries. By criticizing this process, Adhikari argued, Banerjee is challenging the constitutional framework established by B.R. Ambedkar. The political tension follows an Indian Express report detailing internal objections from Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi concerning the revision process, though the Election Commission maintains that all decisions reached were unanimous.
