Congress Protesters Clash with Police in Bhopal over Election Claims

The protest featured a theatrical display of dissent, with activists parading a man in handcuffs dressed as the Election Commissioner. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari led the charge, declaring the party’s readiness to sacrifice everything to protect the Constitution. He accused the country’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, of orchestrating widespread electoral fraud. Patwari vowed to escalate the agitation, promising district-level demands for the arrest of Gyanesh Kumar within the next 48 hours.

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar echoed these sentiments, framing the protest as a necessary intervention to stop what he termed the systematic murder of democracy. Singhar characterized the current administration as a regime built on the theft of votes, claiming that the future of the nation’s farmers and youth hangs in the balance. Despite the police intervention and the subsequent release of those who offered themselves for arrest, the party leadership maintained that the street-level campaign against the Election Commission is only beginning.
