The bank’s updated Dignity at Work Policy and revised staff rules aim to replace opaque grievance procedures with a streamlined, accountable system. Employees will now have access to robust informal support channels before lodging formal complaints, a move intended to reduce the psychological toll of reporting misconduct. By clarifying the chain of responsibility from the initial investigation to the final disciplinary outcome, the EIB seeks to minimize administrative overlap that previously hampered efficiency.
Accountability measures extend to the disciplinary committees themselves, where a new rotation system and expanded nomination rights for staff are designed to ensure greater impartiality in assessing serious infringements. For cases where misconduct is openly acknowledged, the bank has introduced an accelerated procedure to expedite resolution. These changes integrate with the newly established Office for Ethics and Accountability, reflecting a broader institutional effort to move beyond past criticisms regarding how the Luxembourg-based lender handles internal disputes and staff protection.
