Kejriwal demands arrest of minister after Tilak Nagar assault

The confrontation occurred when Sahib Singh, an associate of AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, questioned the quality of a newly constructed stretch of the Outer Ring Road while livestreaming the event. Singh alleged that when he confronted the minister with crumbling asphalt, Verma responded by snatching his phone, twisting his arm, and striking him. Legal counsel for Singh claims the minister’s entourage further escalated the situation by pushing and kicking his client, while local police have yet to register an FIR despite repeated requests.

Kejriwal used the incident to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi, contrasting the administration's social media outreach toward Gen Z with the alleged physical aggression of its officials. He argued that the minister’s behavior undermines the Prime Minister’s efforts to connect with younger voters through events like 'bhajan clubbing.'

Verma has denied the allegations, characterizing the encounter as an orchestrated provocation by AAP workers. In a statement released on social media, the minister claimed that supporters of Jarnail Singh verbally abused his family and obstructed government operations. He stated that a formal complaint has been filed against the AAP MLA and his associates, asserting that his administration will not tolerate the interference of public works or the harassment of officials.
