Sri Lanka’s JVP Delegation Holds Strategic Talks at BJP Headquarters

The JVP delegation, which includes parliamentarian Aboobucker Athambawa and central committee members, met with BJP National General Secretary B L Santhosh at the party’s headquarters on Monday. The visit serves as a platform for exchanging organizational strategies and strengthening the political rapport between the two parties. Beyond internal party discussions, the itinerary includes meetings with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside visits to the Indian Parliament.

This diplomatic engagement follows Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent trip to Colombo, where he emphasized India’s commitment to its 'Neighbourhood First' policy. Describing the two nations as 'civilizational twins,' Singh highlighted India’s role as a primary partner during regional crises, citing the relief efforts provided during last year's cyclone. The current visit aims to translate these historical and cultural ties into sustained political cooperation under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s administration.
