Congress Legislators Clash with Police at Jaipur Mayoral Poll

The dispute intensified when Congress MLA Amin Kagzi alleged that while his party representatives were being turned away, BJP members were granted free access to the ballot process. Kagzi reported that he and other party leaders witnessed a BJP MP inside the facility conferring directly with the Returning Officer. He described a chaotic scene at the gates, where Congress members only gained entry after a sustained struggle with security personnel.

Despite the friction at the headquarters, Congress Councillor Dharam Singh Singhania maintained an optimistic outlook, banking on the support of independent candidates to challenge the incumbent government's influence. However, these efforts proved insufficient to flip the results. BJP candidate Sunil Kothari secured the mayoral seat by capturing 89 votes, subsequently thanking the 150 councillors involved in the process. The election was part of a larger series of polls held across municipal corporations in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota.
