Ramkripal Yadav dismisses opposition attacks on Election Commission

Yadav’s defense follows sharp criticism from Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who recently demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The controversy stems from reports regarding internal disagreements among commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi over electoral roll procedures and the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Addressing these claims, the minister argued that accusing the commission of manipulation ignores the history of power transitions in India, questioning whether previous governments would accept the same logic applied to their own electoral victories.

The minister also dismissed the feasibility of an impeachment motion against the CEC, predicting such efforts would fail just as previous opposition-led attempts have stalled. While the opposition continues to allege vote tampering, the commission maintains that its internal debates are standard procedure for a multi-member body, emphasizing that all final decisions regarding electoral rolls were reached through unanimous consensus.
