Leaders Honor Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on Birth Anniversary

In a post on X, the Prime Minister lauded Upadhyaya as a practitioner of national service who prioritized the upliftment of the most marginalized citizens. He urged the public to internalize these ideals, citing a Sanskrit Subhashitam to emphasize that success is built upon consistent effort and courage rather than mere chance.

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led memorial events, noting that the state’s current welfare initiatives are direct extensions of Upadhyaya’s framework. Adityanath credited the central government with effectively translating these theories into policy over the past 12 years. Similarly, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recognized the thinker as the guiding force behind the party’s current mission.

Born in 1916, Upadhyaya was a foundational figure in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the modern BJP. A prolific writer and economist, he founded publications including Rashtra Dharma and Panchajanya to disseminate his concepts of Integral Humanism. His political career reached a zenith in 1967 when he assumed the presidency of the Jana Sangh, shortly before his death in 1968. Today, his legacy remains physically anchored in the geography of the nation, most notably with the renaming of the Mughal Sarai junction in his honor.
