Akhilesh Yadav launches 2027 campaign with PDA Rath yatra

The campaign tour focuses on the party's core coalition of backward classes, Dalits, and minorities—the PDA bloc. Yadav also pivoted to national electoral concerns, calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following reports of internal disputes regarding voter list revisions. He characterized the current electoral process as compromised, alleging that officials have acted as partisans for the ruling party. Beyond the political sparring, the yatra serves as a strategic mobilization effort, with Yadav setting a target to flip 27,000 votes in every assembly constituency. The Raebareli launch holds symbolic weight, as the district is the parliamentary seat of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, signaling the Samajwadi Party's intent to solidify its footprint in central Uttar Pradesh long before the 2027 polls.
