While the new audio-focused hardware serves as a privacy-conscious alternative, the company continues to expand its flagship Meta Ray-Ban lineup, which retains video capabilities. To mitigate security anxieties, Meta’s vice president of AI product, Vishal Shah, emphasized the necessity of visible recording indicators, noting that explicit light signals remain a core component of their wearable design. These efforts to address user consent come as the firm pushes deeper into the consumer AI market.

Beyond audio wearables, Zuckerberg detailed a broader hardware roadmap including mixed reality glasses set for a spring 2027 launch at $1,299. Weighing roughly as much as a deck of cards, these devices eschew physical controls in favor of gesture and voice inputs. These tools are designed to integrate with Muse, a new agentic AI assistant capable of performing tasks like booking appointments and managing personal accounts. As Meta invests billions to remain competitive, these products represent a significant attempt to transition users from traditional eyewear to multifunctional AI-powered interfaces.
