Deoghar eyes medical tourism expansion with new 750-bed hospital

The hospital launch marks a significant shift for the Godda parliamentary constituency, which has recently gained an airport, an AIIMS facility, and improved railway access. Sarma, drawing on his 15-year tenure as Assam’s health minister, emphasized that the infrastructure is designed specifically to prioritize public service over profit. He noted that the new institution will work in tandem with AIIMS Deoghar to provide a robust healthcare ecosystem, effectively ending the reliance on medical travel to Kolkata for residents of Jharkhand and Bihar.

Looking toward future expansion, the Chief Minister announced plans for an on-site medical college. He also utilized the platform to contrast national healthcare growth during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure, citing an increase from 387 to 846 medical colleges nationwide. The event, attended by Godda MP Nishikant Dubey and Trust Chairperson Dr. Anamika Gautam, underscored a broader regional push to decentralize advanced medical care.
