KTR and BJP escalate pressure on Telangana government over Jurala water

The BRS leader lauded the local agricultural community for using traditional protest methods to challenge what he dubbed a "Kumbhakarna government." He pledged that his party would dedicate the next two years to confronting the ruling Congress administration over the basic rights of state residents. Tensions reached a boiling point this week when state police placed BJP leader N Ramchander Rao in preventive custody as he attempted to reach the project site to address the farmers' grievances.

Ramchander Rao condemned the detention as an illegal authoritarian move, asserting that the administration is actively blocking opposition attempts to support the agrarian sector. Prior to his arrest, the BJP leader accused the state of hoarding water while crops wither, labeling the current government's approach as fundamentally anti-farmer. KTR echoed these sentiments, alleging that despite abundant rainfall and healthy levels in the Krishna and Godavari rivers, the government’s mismanagement has effectively endangered the livelihoods of local farmers.
