Stalin Challenges Vijay Over London Trip and Governance Crisis

Speaking at the annual Mupperum Vizha event in Chennai, Stalin mocked the Chief Minister’s transition from cinema to politics, suggesting the administration has become more interested in optics than governance. He ridiculed the London visit, pointing out the irony of signing agreements with Indian companies on foreign soil. Beyond the travel, he characterized the current political climate as a "hunting ground for criminals," citing a surge in violent crimes, including frequent sickle attacks and unchecked drug distribution.

Stalin further alleged that the Assembly has devolved into a venue for a "reels craze," with the government prioritizing theatrical displays over legislative substance. He dismissed the administration's performance, labeling the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam as "Reels Kazhagam" and accusing it of rebranding DMK-era welfare schemes. Addressing the upcoming by-election, he described the process as an affront to democratic norms, claiming the seat was vacated prematurely to force a contest. Throughout his address, the former Chief Minister emphasized the DMK’s enduring legacy, contrasting his party's history of political struggle against what he termed the current administration’s reliance on superficial campaigns and ineffective crisis management.
