Giriraj Singh Targets Mamata Banerjee Amid Bengal Bypoll Tensions

Speaking in Patna, Singh characterized the current political atmosphere as a struggle for liberation from what he described as a suffocating regime. He lauded Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari for offering a viable alternative to Banerjee, claiming the public now seeks a shift toward a more transparent governance model. Beyond state politics, the Union Minister dismissed recent accusations of vote manipulation from Rahul Gandhi, labeling the Congress leader a "robot" whose rhetoric is dictated by external influence. Singh further challenged Congress to address its own history of organizational fractures, noting that the Trinamool Congress itself emerged from the party’s internal splits.

The rhetoric arrives as the Trinamool Congress faces legal hurdles regarding its identity. Banerjee has petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn an Election Commission interim order that froze the party's "Flowers and Grass" symbol and official name amidst an internal leadership conflict. The Commission has since assigned the Banerjee faction the "Football Player" symbol and the modified name "Mamata All India Trinamool Congress" for the upcoming bypolls, while the Arup Roy-led faction operates under the "Democratic Trinamool Congress" banner. These developments have intensified the friction between the state government and federal authorities as the October 6 voting date approaches.
