Schroyer, a former Oklahoma state trooper with limited background in immigration policy, held close ties to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. While President Trump originally touted the nominee on Truth Social as a patriot with decades of experience in law enforcement, the administration provided no explanation for the sudden withdrawal.
