Foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov reinforced this ambiguity, noting that the topic has not surfaced in recent high-level discussions within Moscow. The current hesitation contrasts with the administration's stance from April, when the Kremlin suggested a trip was possible following an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump, who publicly framed a potential visit as a productive step.
The prospect of a summit appearance has also drawn a direct response from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. He signaled a willingness to travel to Florida specifically to engage with the Russian leader. Peskov dismissed this overture, asserting that any formal dialogue between the two heads of state should take place in Moscow rather than on the sidelines of a multilateral forum.
