Haryana Chief Minister Backs Women in Legislative Leadership

Women serving in legislative roles act as primary architects of democratic reform rather than passive observers, according to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Speaking at a two-day workshop in Faridabad, Saini emphasized that increasing female participation is essential for building a more inclusive and accountable government structure nationwide.

The ‘She Is a Change Maker’ event, hosted in Surajkund, brought together female MLAs and Legislative Council members representing 20 states and two Union Territories. Organized by the National Commission for Women, the program focused on sharpening the expertise of elected officials in policy-making, legislative procedures, and administrative leadership.

Saini commended National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya K. Rahatkar for the initiative, noting that the curriculum directly strengthens the capacity of women to navigate complex governance challenges. By fostering these leadership skills, the commission aims to solidify the influence of women in shaping public policy and driving institutional progress.
