Telangana Assembly Demands Accountability After Conduct Disputes

A violent confrontation involving female legislators and derogatory remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar triggered a heated session in the Telangana Assembly. AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi led the call for an immediate investigation, emphasizing that the physical mistreatment of elected officials constitutes an inexcusable breach of state dignity.

During proceedings in Hyderabad, Owaisi recounted the assault on Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Laxma Reddy, describing how one legislator was subjected to physical aggression, including having her hair pulled and clothing stepped on. Owaisi insisted that the honor of female representatives is inseparable from the honor of the state itself, demanding swift disciplinary measures against the perpetrators.

Simultaneously, the House moved to protect its institutional standing by passing a resolution against BRS members. Lawmakers condemned the disparaging comments directed at Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, formally censuring the behavior. The Assembly majority called for a public apology from Leader of Opposition K Chandrashekhar Rao, maintaining that partisan divides cannot justify the systematic erosion of decorum within the legislative chamber.
