The study, published in the Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research, identifies "perceived destination diagnosticity" as the bridge between inspiration and action. Researcher Raksmey Sann analyzed how content about Khon Kaen in northeastern Thailand influences potential visitors. The findings indicate that audiences prioritize content that functions as a decision-making tool rather than mere entertainment. When creators provide granular details on local attractions, reliable logistics, and structured itineraries, they enable viewers to mentally simulate a trip, significantly increasing the likelihood of a visit.
Data collected from 403 participants highlights that specific categories of information carry more weight than others. Attraction details—such as specific cultural sites, food, and festivals—emerged as the most critical factors for evaluation. Conversely, general entertainment value and accommodation information proved less decisive, as travelers often source hotel data from dedicated booking platforms. For content creators and tourism marketers, the takeaway is clear: the path to conversion lies in precision. By offering verified, up-to-date, and practical guidance, creators transform a vague interest in a location into a concrete, executable plan.
