YSRCP Accuses Chandrababu Naidu of Misleading Public on Polavaram

Former minister Gudivada Amarnath leveled accusations against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday, claiming the government’s narrative regarding Polavaram project water distribution masks a betrayal of North Coastal Andhra interests. Amarnath argued that the current administration is prioritizing political optics over functional engineering and regional development.

YSRCP Accuses Chandrababu Naidu of Misleading Public on Polavaram

The critique centers on the shift from gravity-fed water distribution to a lift system, a change Amarnath contends was unnecessary and serves only to facilitate questionable project allocations. He alleged that the Chief Minister is attempting to claim credit for infrastructure largely advanced under the previous administrations of Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. According to Amarnath, the current leadership is awarding remaining contracts to favored entities at exorbitant rates, undermining the progress achieved during the pandemic years.

Beyond technical grievances, the YSRCP representative attacked the administration’s proposal to divert water to a data center, characterizing the move as a broken promise to the region. Amarnath further suggested that the Chief Minister maintains a pattern of misappropriating credit for major works, pointing to the Bhogapuram airport and the Veligonda project as historical precedents. He insisted that the prior YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government had instead focused on tangible social infrastructure, including medical colleges and universities, to uplift North Andhra.
