BJP's Nagendran slams TN government over Mettur visit costs

Nagendran claims the government funneled nearly Rs 5 crore into arrangements for the event, including heavy barricading along the route. Speaking in Trichy, he contrasted this expenditure with the agricultural crisis in the Cauvery delta, where water release delays have left approximately two lakh hectares of land uncultivated. He argued that the dam, which holds a 95 TMC capacity, was opened late with only 54 TMC available, further compounding the farmers' plight.

The BJP leader also accused the ruling administration of failing to secure Tamil Nadu’s water rights from Karnataka. Despite the presence of Congress allies in the state government, Nagendran contends the Chief Minister has failed to exert necessary pressure to ensure the delivery of water as mandated by the Cauvery Water Management Authority. Beyond the water dispute, he took aim at the stability of the ruling alliance, citing internal ministerial threats of resignation and broader policy disagreements, including controversial remarks regarding religious priorities over regional language.
