The incidents began shortly after 5:20 a.m. near 15th and Chestnut streets. Philadelphia Police Captain Jason Smith confirmed that the individual, described as a thin male between 16 and 20 years old, attempted to enter a local eatery while masked but was denied service due to his erratic behavior. Witnesses reported the suspect held a lit smartphone during the encounters, suggesting the harassment may have been staged for a social media stunt.
During one confrontation, the man cornered a 40-year-old woman, leading to her injury as she scrambled to escape the area. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the Center City district and monitoring online platforms to identify the individual. If apprehended, the suspect faces charges including assault and terroristic threats.
