Police intercepted Cerimedo as he attempted to depart for Buenos Aires, moving him into the custody of the national anti-crime unit for interrogation. Investigators are currently weighing several motives for the attack on Beller, who remains in critical condition after being shot at a hotel. Officials are examining the possibility of a personal dispute between the two, while also investigating the circumstances of the shooting itself, in which the assailants allegedly posed as food delivery drivers before escaping on a motorcycle.
Cerimedo has previously faced scrutiny for his political activities in Bolivia, which he has consistently rejected as baseless interference. His career includes high-profile roles in South American right-wing campaigns, and he remains a polarizing figure in regional politics. Earlier this year, he publicly addressed and denied separate online allegations concerning domestic violence. Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding Beller’s medical status or specific charges against the consultant.
