Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel authorized the unit following specific directives from the central Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Formalized via a government resolution on August 6, 2026, the structure creates a dedicated hierarchy for tracking scheme performance. The unit will function under the direct supervision of Social Justice ministers Pradyuman Vaja and Manisha Vakil, working in tandem with the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department.

The PMU staff will include a State Social Justice Lead alongside specialized coordinators. Recruitment for these roles must adhere to national guidelines established on June 16, 2026.
