The investigation began shortly before noon when Michigan State Police responded to a home roughly 169 miles northwest of Detroit. Officers discovered three individuals dead and one wounded, who was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition. The suspect, 39-year-old Chad Hickman, had already fled the scene, triggering an urgent warning to residents that he remained armed and dangerous.

While conducting a large-scale search, authorities located a fourth victim at a different residence. The search eventually shifted to a wooded area near Whitlock Lake, where officers found Hickman’s vehicle. The suspect was discovered dead alongside a sixth individual. While officials have confirmed the total death toll, they have not yet disclosed the specific cause of death for the victims or the nature of their relationships to the suspect. Lt. Ashley Miller of the Michigan State Police described the event as a heartbreaking situation for the local community, noting that the identities of those killed are being withheld pending family notification.
