While diplomatic traffic persists through intermediaries, the focus has shifted toward narrower regional logistics. Araqchi noted in an interview with Shahrara News that discussions with Oman are currently limited to the technical establishment of a sea route through the Strait of Hormuz. The resumption of shipping remains contingent on specific, unfulfilled conditions demanded of the United States regarding the waterway’s security and governance.
Tehran Holds Off on Direct Talks With Washington
Direct negotiations with the United States remain off the table for now, despite ongoing back-channel communications. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that current exchanges facilitated by Qatar and Pakistan lack the substance of formal diplomacy, leaving the two nations in a state of strategic stalemate rather than active dialogue.
