Andres Lopez Beltran Claims U.S. Revoked Visa Over Political Bias

Andres Manuel Lopez Beltran, son of former Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has petitioned President Donald Trump to intervene after the U.S. government revoked his visa. He characterizes the cancellation as a crude, politically motivated strike orchestrated by figures including Marco Rubio and Christopher Landau.

The younger Lopez Beltran, who recently stepped down from a leadership role within the Morena party to prepare for a 2027 congressional run, denies any wrongdoing. In his letter to the White House, he decried the revocation as a perverse maneuver, further lashing out at the current state of the United States, which he described as suffering from widespread hatred, racism, and drug addiction.

This incident arrives as part of a larger pattern of U.S. visa revocations affecting at least 50 Mexican political figures. Current Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has publicly condemned these actions, dismissing the policy as an inherently political tool. The diplomatic friction underscores deepening tensions between the two nations as the U.S. continues to exercise its discretionary authority over entry privileges for foreign officials.
