Sukhbir Badal Links Nanded Gurdwara Attack to Political Conspiracy

A five-centimeter wound on his right forearm serves as a stark reminder of the violence that unfolded Thursday at a Maharashtra gurdwara. Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, recovering from the assault, now points to a calculated campaign aimed at destabilizing the political climate of Punjab ahead of 2027.

Sukhbir Badal Links Nanded Gurdwara Attack to Political Conspiracy

The incident occurred in Nanded, where an assailant identified as 60-year-old Jaspal Singh, a sevadar at the site, targeted the former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister. According to Nanded Superintendent of Police Nilabh Rohan, the suspect is currently in custody. A Special Protection Unit officer sustained injuries while shielding Badal during the struggle. Both men have since been discharged from the hospital in stable condition.

Badal characterizes the assault as part of a larger conspiracy rather than an isolated act of aggression. Speaking at Delhi airport, he vowed that his party would confront these forces, which he labeled anti-national. This confrontation follows a pattern of security threats, including a similar attempt on his life at the Golden Temple in Amritsar last December. Despite the recurring violence, Badal insists his commitment to maintaining harmony in Punjab remains firm.
