The latest Impact Report details how the organization is shifting its focus from simple capital deployment to measurable, long-term outcomes. By strengthening portfolio supervision, the Group reports that project success rates at completion are rising across both the IDB and its private-sector arm, IDB Invest. These results highlight a strategy that prioritizes sustainable economic growth, environmental risk mitigation, and the rule of law.
Beyond basic infrastructure, the institution has prioritized digital and rural development. Approximately 11 million people gained broadband access, while 1.2 million farmers received support through agricultural services aimed at bolstering food security. IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn noted that these operations are designed to make the region more resilient, emphasizing that the institution’s role extends beyond financing to include the technical knowledge and partnerships necessary for large-scale systemic improvements. As the bank scales its operations, the primary challenge remains maintaining high performance standards to ensure that increased capital translates into tangible improvements for local communities.
