BTG Pactual Opens Amazon Sustainable Investing to Retail Traders

With a minimum entry threshold of just R$10, BTG Pactual Asset Management has launched the AMAB11 exchange-traded fund, creating a rare pathway for individual investors to support sustainable development projects across Brazil’s Legal Amazon while tapping into a regional portfolio of bonds and government securities.

The fund operates under the Amazonia for All initiative, a program backed by the Inter-American Development Bank Group. By aligning with specific Amazon Bond Issuance Guidelines co-authored by the World Bank, the product mandates strict transparency and reporting standards for every asset included. According to IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn, the low investment requirement aims to catalyze broader institutional activity, encouraging more Brazilian entities to issue financial instruments that balance economic growth with environmental conservation.

BTG Pactual manages the portfolio, which draws from a mix of Amazon-linked bonds, corporate debentures from firms operating within the region, and federal government securities. CEO Rubens Henriques noted that the structure provides a bridge between capital markets and measurable regional impact. This launch sits within the IDB’s wider Amazonia Forever program, which coordinates efforts across eight nations to foster sustainable economic activity. By standardizing these investments, the fund seeks to deepen the liquidity of environmental finance, effectively connecting retail capital to the preservation of the Amazon biome.
