The victim, identified by Russian Telegram channels as Robert Shageyev, was a former Ukrainian naval officer who defected to Moscow during the 2014 annexation. Before switching sides, Shageyev reportedly commanded the Ukrainian submarine Zaporizhzhia. The Federal Security Service confirmed the arrest of the female suspect, though Kyiv has not issued an official response regarding the operation.
The strike follows a volatile 24 hours for the region. In a separate incident overnight in Sevastopol, five individuals were killed while attempting to neutralize an explosive device.
