Five Killed in Sevastopol Bomb Disposal Operation

Five people died instantly in Sevastopol after an explosive device detonated during a clearance operation. The victims, comprising four bomb disposal specialists and a security guard, were responding to the aftermath of a widespread Ukrainian drone strike that targeted the Russian-controlled city earlier this week.

Regional governor Mikhail Razvozhayev confirmed the fatalities, which occurred as crews attempted to neutralize hazardous remnants left by the aerial assault. The incident underscores the lethal risks inherent in ongoing efforts to clear unexploded ordnance across contested territories. This tragedy follows a massive nocturnal engagement where Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed to have intercepted 362 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions, including Crimea. The peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, remains a primary theater of hostilities as the full-scale conflict enters its fifth year.
