Fifteen days after sustaining severe burns across 75 percent of his body, 25-year-old V Bharath Chander Reddy has died in a Florida hospital. The student from Telangana’s Hanumakonda district had been working a part-time job in the United States since arriving for higher studies in 2023.

Reddy, a native of Gunturpalli village, was the son of farmers who had invested their savings into his American education. Following the July 25 fire accident, he remained in critical condition until his death on August 10. His father, V Sammi Reddy, has now appealed to the Telangana state government for assistance in repatriating his son’s remains for final rites in their home village.

This tragedy follows another recent loss for a Telangana family. Mohammed Abdul Jawad, 27, died on Tuesday in a collision in Qormi, Malta. Jawad was driving a truck that struck a trailer; emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Local authorities in Malta have opened an investigation into the crash while the victim's family seeks support to bring his body back to Jagtial district.
