The newly established Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force is cross-referencing global travel histories with data from the Department of Homeland Security to identify violators.

Investigators have documented numerous instances of deception, ranging from forged medical records to elaborate cover stories. In one instance, a traveler claimed to be visiting Orlando for a vacation, only to arrive in Los Angeles and give birth five days later. Another official used a purported one-week diplomatic visit as a front for a three-month stay. Beyond the travelers themselves, the State Department is focusing on dismantling the commercial networks that coach clients on how to bypass border scrutiny and evade hospital payments. While the 14th Amendment continues to guarantee birthright citizenship, these administrative actions aim to penalize the intentional manipulation of visa categories.
