India and Vietnam Deepen Defence and Youth Ties

Fifteen members of the National Cadet Corps arrived at the Indian Embassy in Hanoi this Wednesday, marking a fresh chapter in an exchange program designed to bridge cultures. Ambassador Tshering W Sherpa framed the visit against a backdrop of rapidly maturing strategic cooperation between New Delhi and Hanoi.

The delegation’s itinerary spans both Hanoi and Nha Trang, focusing on a mix of defence installations, historical sites, and academic institutions. By immersing these young cadets in the local landscape, the program seeks to build long-term people-to-people connections that transcend formal diplomatic protocols.

This youth outreach runs parallel to significant shifts in high-level statecraft. Ambassador Sherpa recently met with Trinh Minh Manh, Vietnam's incoming envoy to India, to discuss the trajectory of their bilateral relationship. These diplomatic moves build on the momentum generated by Air Chief Marshal A P Singh’s recent visit to Vietnam, where both nations reaffirmed their commitment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The focus remains clear: cementing military interoperability and shared security interests.
